ED Reveals South Group Received Rs 292.8cr in Liquorgate Scandal, AAP Received Rs 100cr for Goa Polls

BRS MLC K Kavitha will remain in jail for another month as her judicial custody has been extended until July 3 by the Rouse Avenue Court in Hyderabad. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a charge sheet stating that a liquor scam worth Rs 1,100 crore took place, with Rs 292.8 crore going to the South Group. This included Rs 100 crore given as ‘kickbacks’ to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the Goa elections in 2022.

Kavitha was presented before the court by the ED, and her judicial custody was extended. The ED filed a supplementary charge sheet naming her as a key conspirator, stating she was involved in the proceeds of crime related to Indo-Spirit benefiting with over Rs 192 crore until the policy was scrapped. She was accused of destroying digital evidence to hide her involvement in the scam.

The ED also claimed that Kavitha had influenced witnesses, with one witness stating she asked involved individuals to retract their statements. The charge sheet mentioned statements from AAP candidates in the Goa elections, where campaign expenses were promised to be managed by party leaders. Kavitha was also produced before the court by the CBI, as she is an accused in their case as well.

The court extended her judicial custody until June 7, when the CBI will file their charge sheet. Other accused individuals were also produced before the court by CBI officials.
