The Election Commission of India (ECI) has sent a notice to Nara Chandrababu Naidu, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), for allegedly breaking the Model Code of Conduct during his campaign speeches on March 31, 2024. This notice came after a complaint was filed by Lella Appi Reddy, State General Secretary of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), and another individual.
During his campaign rallies in Yemmiganur, Markapuram, and Bapatla constituencies, TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu reportedly made insulting remarks about Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, calling him names like Monster, Animal, Thief, and other offensive terms.
The Election Commission has looked into the speeches provided in a pendrive and found that they likely violate the Model Code of Conduct. The Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh has given Chandrababu Naidu 48 hours to explain the derogatory comments made against the YSR Congress Party and its leader, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
