The Election Commission in Hyderabad is working to print Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) faster within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Vikas Raj, instructed District Election Officers (DEO) to speed up the printing process and ensure that the cards are printed every 15 days to reach eligible voters on time.
At a review meeting attended by DEOs and Electoral Registration Officers (ERO) from all constituencies within the GHMC area, the CEO stressed the importance of handling forms 6, 7, and 8 effectively. These forms are necessary for voter registration, addressing objections to registered voters, and managing voter transfers. The CEO instructed the EROs to dispose of these forms daily and create an action plan for timely disposal, instead of waiting until the last date. He also asked them to complete data processing and uploading of all physical forms by September 3.
The CEO also highlighted the need for SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program) activities to promote electoral awareness. He encouraged DEOs to focus on the participation of Electoral Literacy Clubs and collaborate with local influencers to motivate citizens to enroll as voters. The meeting was attended by Joint CEO Sarfraz Ahmad, GHMC Commissioner and DEO Ronald Rose, Collector and DEO Rangareddy S Harish, Collector and DEO Medchal-Malkajgiri Amoy Kumar, Collector and DEO Hyderabad Durishetty Anudeep, CEO of the Cantonment Board D Madhukar Naik, and all EROs of the 24 assembly constituencies within GHMC.
