Eager MLAs rushing to secure funds amidst poll code regulations

Pragati Bhavan in Hyderabad is currently busy as many MLAs are going there to get funds released for pending bills. This sudden rush is because Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao advised party MLAs to complete ongoing works and ensure that contractors receive their payments before seeking votes in their constituencies. They have been told to clear all bills by the second week of October.

MLAs from various districts are waiting at Pragati Bhavan to meet with officials and get funds released for pending bills and other schemes. These include funds for Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries, financial benefits for BC and minority communities, Kalyana Lakshmi bills, educational institution construction, hospital upgradation, markets, vaikuntadhamams, road network, small irrigation schemes, and check dams.

The funds will be provided to the MLAs through a special development fund announced in the budget for 2023-2024. Adequate funds have been made available by the Finance department. Priority will be given to direct benefit schemes like Dalit Bandhu and assistance to BCs.

Funds will also be released for Municipal Administration and Urban Development and Panchayat Raj to ensure the inauguration of development works before the election code is enforced.

The next challenge is to release funds for pending bills and salaries of outsourcing and contract staff. The government wants to address the financial requirements of everyone during the election season to avoid public anger.

The Chief Minister, who will lead the campaign trail, will present a progress report on the government’s development schemes over the past nine years. However, he is currently unwell with a fever according to the CMO.
