Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has officially appointed a regular Director of Medical Education (DME) for the first time. Dr. Narendra Kumar, who is currently the principal of Osmania Medical College, will take on the role.
For the past ten years, there has been no permanent DME in the region. After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the DME post was allocated to Andhra Pradesh. As a result, Telangana had only in-charge DMEs, as the government had not created a permanent position until now.
In addition to this, the government has also appointed Dr. Shivaram Prasad, the principal of Jagtial Medical College, as the Academic Director of Medical Education. These appointments mark an important step in strengthening the state’s medical education system.
