Dr Laxman urges RS to halt TTD demolition campaign

Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha BJP member Dr K Laxman is urging the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the government to intervene in protecting the ancient monuments, temples, and other historical structures in and around Tirumala. He claims that the Tirumala Tirupati Desthanam Board (TTD) has already demolished an 800-year-old heritage called Parveta Mandapam and is considering demolishing another structure in Alipri. These actions are causing distress among people who follow Sanatana Dharma.

During the zero hour, Dr K Laxman expressed that Tirumala is a significant holy site for people who follow Sanatana Dharma, not just in Andhra Pradesh but also throughout the country. The ancient monuments from different empires such as the Cholas, Pallavas, Yadavas, and Vijayanagara empire are not only important to those who follow Sanatana Dharma but also represent the cultural and historical heritage of our country.

Dr K Laxman emphasized that the TTD’s decision to demolish the Parveta Mandapam without consulting the ASI and replacing it with a new structure made of granite should be halted. Additionally, he revealed that the TTD funds, which were supposed to be used for the betterment of the temple and the promotion of Sanatana Dharam, are being diverted to the Tirupati municipality as the election year approaches. He called for immediate action from the appropriate authorities to put an end to these actions.
