Free Nutrition Kits Distributed to TB Patients in Nagar Kurnool
Dr. K.V. Swarajyalakshmi, the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), launched a program on Wednesday at the Collapur Community Health Center to provide free nutritional kits to tuberculosis (TB) patients. She highlighted the importance of proper nutrition along with regular treatment to help patients recover faster.
Under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, TB patients receive ₹1,000 every month in their bank accounts to support their nutrition. Additionally, the Prime Minister’s TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan encourages corporate companies to contribute nutritional aid to patients.
As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Natco Pharma is distributing free nutritional kits to TB patients undergoing treatment. Each kit contains 3 kg of wheat flour, 1.5 kg of toor dal, 250 ml of cooking oil, and 1 kg of peanuts. These kits are rich in protein and essential nutrients, helping patients regain strength. A total of 482 TB patients from Nagar Kurnool, Kalwakurthy, and Collapur TB Treatment Units will receive these kits every month.
After launching the program, Dr. Swarajyalakshmi also visited the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Clinic at the Collapur Government Hospital. Several officials attended the event, including Deputy DMHO Dr. Venkat Das, Hospital Superintendent Dr. Srinivasulu, Natco Pharma representative Dr. Madan Mohan, and other medical officers, health workers, and TB patients from different villages.
