DOST | Dichpalli, June 24: The online degree admission service in Telangana (DOST) has received a good response. Many students have shown interest in joining government degree colleges as the first seat allotment was completed with a large number of students. Students were keen on joining colleges under Telangana University as they had the highest number of seats available among the colleges in the state. Around 70% of students opted for government and private degree colleges. 14% of students joined private degree colleges. Private colleges with seats available saw an increase in popularity. The second phase of DOST process is currently ongoing. Applications can be submitted online until the 26th of this month. Web options will be available until the 27th and seat allotment will begin from the 30th.

The admission process is as follows:

All degree colleges in the state follow the same procedure for admissions. DOST facilitates online admissions for students. After the announcement of intermediate results, the DOST online application process was initiated from May 16 to June 10. Students were given the opportunity to exercise web options until June 11. The first seat allotment was completed on June 16. Currently, the second phase of the process is underway. From July 1 to July 6, students can submit their applications along with web options. Seat allotment will be done on July 10 and classes will commence from July 17.

Preference given to aided colleges…

The main reason for students giving priority to aided colleges, which have a higher number of seats available, is the quality education provided there. These colleges have better teaching, non-teaching staff, basic facilities, availability of books, labs, and management. Hence, students have clearly shown preference towards aided colleges. Even government colleges are now being considered as an alternative to private ones, as indicated by the seat allotment statistics in DOST.
