    Hyderabad: Dr. Shaikh Chand Ahmed has received a doctorate from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Osmania University. His research was titled “Human Rights Reportage: A Study of Representations in Select Print Media and Journalist Practices.” The thesis was supervised by Professor K. Nageshwar and was recognized as the best by examiners.

    Dr. Ahmed’s research focused on how human rights were reported in print media during the first Covid-19 lockdown in India. He studied selected English newspapers to understand how they covered human rights issues.

    To complete his research, Dr. Ahmed used a mix of research methods. He analyzed newspaper content and also surveyed 100 journalists. This helped him learn more about the practices followed by journalists during the early months of the pandemic.
