Officials to Set Up Procurement Centers for Red Gram in Gadwal District
Farmers in Gadwal district will soon have access to new procurement centers for selling their red gram crops. District Additional Collector Lakshminarayana has instructed officials to establish these centers immediately to support farmers.
During a meeting held at the Collector’s office on Monday, the Additional Collector highlighted that red gram grown during the 2024-25 monsoon season will be purchased through Markfed. He announced that procurement centers will be set up in key markets, including Alampur, Vaddepalli, Aiza, Putan Doddi, and Gadwal.
To begin with, procurement centers in Alampur and Vaddepalli will start functioning from Wednesday. Officials were asked to ensure smooth operations at these centers so that farmers do not face any difficulties. The government has set a support price of ₹7,550 per quintal for red gram, and farmers were encouraged to bring high-quality produce to benefit from this rate.
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including District Agriculture Officer Sakriya Naik, Markfed DM Gauri Naresh, District Cooperative Officer Srinivas, SWC Manager Upender, and others. Their collective efforts aim to make the procurement process efficient and farmer-friendly.
