Free Legal Aid Available through District Legal Services Authority
Residents in need of free legal help and advice can now easily access support. They can call the district legal services authority using the landline number 2202250 or the toll-free number 15100. Once contacted, the district or taluka legal services authority will arrange for panel lawyers to provide necessary guidance over the phone.
On Tuesday, Sunita, the District Principal Judge and Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, shared details about new steps to make legal assistance more accessible. She highlighted that people can also apply for legal aid online through the same toll-free number, the landline number, or the NALSA website.
To spread awareness, Judge Sunita unveiled informational flex boards in the presence of judges and panel lawyers. These boards, containing details about how to access legal aid, will be installed in public places like bus stands, railway stations, schools, colleges, and marketplaces. The goal is to ensure that more people learn about the free legal services available to them.
