District Collector Adarsh Surabhi held an important meeting on Tuesday with health and municipal officials to prepare for breast cancer screenings in Wanaparthy. The meeting, held in the afternoon, included discussions with the District Medical and Health Department Officer, medical personnel, and the Municipal Commissioner. These screenings are scheduled to take place on December 18 at the municipal office.
A team from Hyderabad’s well-known M.N.J. Cancer Hospital will visit Wanaparthy to conduct the screenings. The team, comprising 10 medical staff members, will bring the necessary equipment to perform mammogram tests. The screenings will start at 10 a.m. and are expected to serve nearly 200 women from nearby areas, including Kadukkuntla, Gopalpet, and Peddamandadi. These women have been identified as being at potential risk for breast cancer.
During the meeting, Collector Surabhi stressed the need to provide basic facilities for the smooth conduct of the tests. He instructed the Municipal Commissioner to handle logistics, such as setting up infrastructure for the medical team and arranging midday meals for the women attending the screenings. He also noted that women sanitation workers, along with municipal health staff, would assist in the process.
The review meeting was attended by key officials, including District Medical Health Officer Dr. Srinivas, District Municipal Commissioner Purnachander, and Program Officer Dr. Ramachandra Rao. Other medical staff and officials were also present, showcasing a collaborative effort to improve health awareness and provide support to the community.
