Sports Build Confidence and Resilience: District Collector BM Santhosh
Gadwal: District Collector BM Santhosh highlighted the importance of sports in building resilience, overcoming challenges, and boosting self-confidence. He spoke at the District-Level CM Cup 2024 Sports Competitions organized by the District Sports Department at the Indoor Stadium on Monday. The event saw the presence of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Srinivas Rao and other officials.
The Collector emphasized that the Telangana government is hosting these competitions to nurture both rural and urban athletes for national and international tournaments. He explained that sports not only enhance physical fitness but also contribute to educational and personality development. He pointed out that qualities like teamwork, leadership, and determination, which are learned through sports, are often assessed in interviews for prestigious roles like IAS and IPS.
Sports: A Platform for Growth and Success
BM Santhosh also stressed the importance of teamwork over individual success, drawing parallels to the collective efforts required in administrative services. He noted that sports play a significant role in reducing mental stress and improving thought processes in today’s competitive world. Addressing the athletes, he encouraged them to aim higher, progress from district to state levels, and bring pride to the region. He reminded everyone that sports are more than entertainment—they are a platform to showcase talent and achieve excellence on national and international stages.
SP Srinivas Rao Motivates Athletes
District SP Srinivas Rao echoed the Collector’s sentiments, stating that sports teach essential life skills, including resilience and determination. He encouraged athletes to strive for higher achievements, moving from village to district and eventually representing the country. He urged participants to set their sights on Olympic-level accomplishments through disciplined and consistent practice in the coming years.
The SP also congratulated national-level Rugby and Shooting Ball winners, presenting them with certificates. He emphasized that both winners and participants are achievers in their own right and called for greater participation in sports to achieve extraordinary success in life.
Kabaddi and Volleyball Finals Inaugurated
Later, the Collector and SP praised the finalists of Mandal-level Kabaddi and Volleyball competitions, including both boys’ and girls’ teams. They inaugurated the final matches and even played a volleyball match to encourage the athletes.
Dignitaries Applaud Efforts
The event witnessed the participation of ZP CEO Kanthamma, District Sports Officer BS Anand, Physical Education Teachers (PETs), athletes, and other dignitaries. Their presence added to the enthusiasm and spirit of the competition, inspiring athletes to strive for success at higher levels.
