Dhankhar, the Vice-President, Appeals to Diaspora to Combat Unfounded Stories About India

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar spoke at a community reception in the UK, where he highlighted India’s great growth and success as a democracy. He also emphasized the importance of India’s 32-million-strong diaspora in countering baseless narratives about the country. Dhankhar urged everyone to be ambassadors of India and contribute to its growth. He also spoke about India’s achievements in digital transformation, healthcare and vaccines, space technology, and infrastructure growth.

Dhankhar had a busy day of royal engagements, including an audience with King Charles III and a reception hosted by the monarch for world leaders and visiting dignitaries at Buckingham Palace. He will represent India at the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey on Saturday before flying back to India.

Dhankhar was accompanied by his wife, Dr Sudesh Dhankhar, and the Indian High Commissioner in London. The reception was organized by the Indian High Commission in London and attended by members of various Indian diaspora organizations. Dhankhar also had an interaction with Indian-origin members of the House of Lords.
