Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu criticized the absence of BRS MLAs from the Assembly during a discussion on the installation of the Telangana Thalli statue. On Monday, he expressed disappointment, stating that the opposition leaders seemed more interested in holding power than addressing important issues like this.
He emphasized that the BRS leaders should have participated in the discussion and shared their views about the Telangana Thalli statue. Referring to the statement made by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in the Assembly, Bhatti said the absence of the BRS MLAs gave the impression that they lacked genuine love for Telangana and its cultural symbol, Telangana Thalli.
Bhatti also recalled an earlier session in the Assembly on December 13, 2014, where the then Chief Minister had openly expressed gratitude to Sonia Gandhi for her role in the formation of Telangana. He stressed that all members should have been present in the House to acknowledge Sonia Gandhi’s contribution, as her announcement had fulfilled the dreams of Telangana martyrs.
The Deputy Chief Minister further noted that leaders like KTR and Harish could have used the opportunity to express their opinions in the House. Drawing comparisons to the past, he said that during the discussions on the Telangana Bill in the undivided Andhra Pradesh Assembly, everyone, regardless of differences, stayed in the House to voice their perspectives. Bhatti, who was then the Deputy Speaker, mentioned how he and Sridhar Babu ensured everyone was heard during that crucial time.
Speaking at a gathering following the installation of the Telangana Thalli statue, Bhatti accused the BRS leadership of being indifferent to the matter. He pointed out that if the issue had been significant to them, they would have installed the statue during their tenure. He praised the newly installed statue, saying it reflects the image of a mother, sister, and grandmother to all residents of Telangana.
