Telangana Observes National Safety Day, Stresses Workplace Safety
Hyderabad: Telangana’s Department of Factories, along with the National Safety Council’s Telangana chapter, celebrated the 54th National Safety Day in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The event aimed to raise awareness about workplace safety and was attended by around 1,000 people, including factory management representatives, workers, school children, and women.
Speaking at the event, Special Chief Secretary of the Department of Labour, Training, and Factories, Sanjay Kumar, highlighted the need for a dedicated phone number to report safety concerns. He encouraged workers to demand proper safety equipment and emphasized the role of trade unions in ensuring that safety rules are followed.
Director of Factories and Chairman of the National Safety Council Telangana Chapter, B. Rajagopala Rao, assured that the department is actively inspecting workplaces to maintain safety and health standards. He also mentioned that factories are required to appoint Safety Committees, Safety Officers, Welfare Officers, and Medical Officers to ensure better working conditions.
Industry leaders such as P. Satyanarayana Reddy, MD of Saraca Laboratories, and Y. Mohan Babu, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, also took part in the event. National Safety Council Telangana Chapter Secretary V.V. Sasi Kumar, along with other senior officials, stressed the need for continuous efforts to improve workplace safety across the state.
