DCA Confiscates Medications Over Deceptive Advertising

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) officials have found some medicines in the market with false claims on their labels. These claims say the medicines can treat ‘obesity’ and ‘brain diseases and disorders’. Such claims go against the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

During raids on Saturday, the DCA officials discovered several products with misleading advertisements. J Ashwin Kumar, a Drugs Inspector from Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, found Triphala Guggulu Tablets. These tablets are an Ayurvedic medicine made by Siddh-ayu Ayurvedic Research Foundation Pvt Ltd in Madhya Pradesh. The product label falsely claims it can treat ‘obesity’. These medicines were seized from a medical shop in Choutuppal, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri District.

In another raid, LRD Bhavani, a Drugs Inspector from Sircilla, found Ashwagandhadi Lehya. This Ayurvedic medicine is made by Manphar Ayurvedic Drugs. The label falsely claims it can relieve ‘depression and associated anxiety’. These medicines were seized from a medical shop in Sircilla.
