Telangana Drug Control Officials Raid Medical Distributor for Improper Storage of Medicines

The Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (DCA) recently raided a medical distributor in Sultan Bazar, Hyderabad. During the raid, officials discovered that vaccines and injections were being stored at room temperature instead of being refrigerated as required.

The raid took place at Sri Nandini Pharma, where officials found stocks of tetanus vaccines and oxytocin injections placed on racks along with other general medicines. These medicines need to be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius to maintain their effectiveness. The operation was led by T Rajamouli, Assistant Director of Hyderabad, and V Ajay, Drugs Inspector of Goshamahal, along with other officers. The officials seized medicines worth Rs. 10,000.

The DCA also reminded the public that the authenticity of drug licenses can be checked through the Third Party Verification system on the DCA website. This system helps maintain the integrity of the medicine supply chain and prevents counterfeit drugs from entering the market.

In a statement, VB Kamalasan Reddy, Director General of the Telangana State Drugs Control Administration, emphasized that the DCA portal allows people to verify the legitimacy of drug licenses held by wholesalers, retail medical shops, and pharmacies. He urged retailers and wholesalers to ensure they deal only with licensed distributors.

The DCA also advised the public to avoid purchasing medicines from unlicensed sources, including unregulated websites and online platforms.
