Dalit Bandhu rescues impoverished singer Balagam fame in Warangal.

Pastham Mogilaiah and his wife Komuramma became famous for their Balagam song. However, they didn’t experience a significant change in their life. Mogilaiah, who comes from Duggondi village in Warangal, is struggling financially. He also lost both his kidneys and relies on dialysis to survive. The State government chose Mogilaiah’s family for the Dalit Bandhu scheme, which provides Rs 10 lakh to establish a suitable income source. Thanks to the Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar and Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, it became possible.

On Tuesday, Warangal district Collector P Pravinya gave the Dalit Bandhu proceedings to the Mogilaiah couple. Mogilaiah’s son, Sudarshan, who works as a driver, will now have a car to earn a livelihood. Mogilaiah, who is part of the Beda Budaga Jangala community, is a traditional artist known in north Telangana. The 60-year-old gained popularity for his Balagam song in a recent hit movie.
