Members of the Hyderabad cycling group and enthusiasts are calling on the State government to create a better bicycling network in the city for World Bicycle Day. They want to promote sustainable transportation.

To celebrate Bicycle Day, the Hyderabad Cycling Revolution (HCR) organized an event for cycling enthusiasts at the KMV Projects Office along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) Cycling Track. The British Deputy High Commissioner to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh attended the event.

The event encouraged artistic contributions like drawings, paintings, and photographs from around 300 cyclists. Santhana Selvan, Bicycle Mayor of Hyderabad, emphasized the need for a safer and more sustainable urban environment through active mobility.

The HCR members pointed out that while there is a cycling track in Hyderabad, it is not well-connected and often misused. They are urging the State government to develop a properly connected cycling track within the city for more people to embrace cycling as a mode of transport.

Ravi Sambari, a core member of HCR, highlighted the growing trend of using bicycles for daily commuting and stressed the importance of first- and last-mile connectivity for a successful bicycling network. He called on the State government to promote active mobility among the public.
