Cycling groups want a public bicycle-sharing system in Hyderabad for World Bicycle Day. Bicycles are still popular even though other things like transistors and landline phones are disappearing. Cycling enthusiasts want the State government to build infrastructure for cycling and create a public bicycle-sharing system to make transportation more sustainable. This system would allow people to easily access bicycles at metro stations and other designated areas. This would promote good health, a cleaner environment, and cost-effective transportation. Santhana Selvan, Bicycle Mayor of Hyderabad, thinks this would enhance the city’s first and last mile connectivity. Ravinder Nandanoori, founder of Happy Hyderabad cycling group, thinks walking should be used for distances under 1 km, cycling for distances under 5 km and public transportation for distances over 5 km.
