Cyberabad Police Prohibit Drone Flights During V-P Visit Today

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty has banned the use of remotely controlled drones, paragliders, and micro-light aircraft in the Alwal, Genome Valley, and Madhapur Police Station areas. This ban was put in place during the visit of Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Mohanty warned that anyone who violates this ban will face punishment under the law. He referred to a previous warning from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in May 2019, which stated that terrorist and anti-social elements could potentially use these aerial devices for attacks. The commissioner also mentioned the increasing trend of using drones for photography and live telecasts at events.

The Ministry’s warning suggested that police in states and Union Territories should prohibit the flying of such devices within certain radiuses of important government buildings and installations. This is to prevent any potential threats posed by terrorists or anti-social elements using these devices for attacks.

Commissioner Mohanty stressed that allowing the use of drones, paragliders, and micro-light aircraft could put the public at risk and disrupt public peace. Therefore, he deemed it necessary to implement restrictions within the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate to ensure public safety and prevent any potential security threats.
