CS announces upcoming launch of specialized Mahila Shakti canteens

The Telangana government is planning to open special canteens in government offices, district collectorates, and tourist places with the help of women organizations. This initiative is aimed at strengthening women organizations in the state.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to oversee the establishment of ‘Mahila Shakti—Canteen Services’ across the state. A review session was held at the Secretariat to discuss the implementation of these canteens. The Panchayat Raj Commissioner has been asked to create a detailed plan for operating the canteens.

The Chief Minister is dedicated to empowering women’s organizations in Telangana. Special canteens will be set up in various locations like government offices, temples, bus stands, and industrial areas. Women organizations will play a key role in managing these canteens.

Inspired by successful canteens in Kerala and ‘Didi Ka Rasoi’ in West Bengal, the government aims to establish at least 150 canteens within the next two years. Rural women groups will be given training to manage these canteens effectively.
