Hyderabad’s Iconic Numaish Exhibition Begins
Hyderabad’s much-anticipated annual event, ‘Numaish,’ kicked off on Friday at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally. The 84th edition of this All India Industrial Exhibition witnessed a large crowd on its opening day. The event was inaugurated by IT Minister and AIIES president Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud.
Traditionally, Numaish begins on January 1 each year. However, this year, the inauguration was delayed due to national mourning following the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The event was rescheduled and opened on Friday. This year’s entry fee has been increased to ₹50 per person, compared to ₹40 in previous years.
The Numaish exhibition began in 1938 with just 100 stalls at Public Gardens. Over the years, it has grown into a national-level expo and serves as a platform to promote trade and educate the public about government initiatives. It is now one of the country’s largest consumer exhibitions.
Several dignitaries, including AIIES vice president K Niranjan, secretary B Surender Reddy, and joint secretary D Mohan, were present at the event. After the inauguration, the Ministers and AIIES members toured the grounds, visiting various stalls set up by traders from across the country. This year, the exhibition features 1,500 stalls and will run for 46 days. It is open daily from 3:30 pm to 10:30 pm, with free Wi-Fi available for visitors.
The stalls offer a wide range of products, including clothes from different states, handicrafts, handlooms, food items, industrial goods, and more. Visitors can also enjoy adventure activities, fun games, and cultural programs during their visit.
In addition to being a hub for trade, Numaish contributes to education and employment. The All India Industrial Exhibition Society (AIIES) operates 20 educational institutions across Telangana, providing quality education to over 30,000 students annually, with a focus on supporting underprivileged groups, particularly women. The exhibition also generates direct and indirect employment for 10,000 people each year, playing a significant role in enhancing Hyderabad’s reputation.
