In Khammam, CPM district secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao has demanded that the government provide free housing to all journalists, as promised by Chief Minister KCR. Nunna believes that the government is intentionally delaying this provision. He addressed a press conference at Sundarayya Building and highlighted that journalists were promised house plots before the formation of Telangana. However, they have only received assurances for the past ten years without any resolution to the problem.

Journalist unions and the CPM party have been raising this issue for a long time. In solidarity, a district-wide dharna program was organized where many unions expressed their support. The ruling party MLAs assured that the district minister had promised to resolve the problem within three months. A meeting was held in Khammam where a petition was submitted to the CM by the CPM party, requesting housing for journalists. During the meeting, the CM assured that the legal obstacles had been cleared and instructed ministers Harish Rao and Ajay to provide housing for journalists in both the district center and the district itself.
