CPI Leader Calls for Left Unity, Warns of Rising Corporate Influence in Politics

Hyderabad: CPI National Secretary K Narayana has urged all Left parties to come together and unite. Drawing a parallel with the rising influence of big corporations in the United States, he warned that India’s top business groups, such as the Adani Group, could become significantly more powerful through corrupt practices.

In a media statement on Thursday, Narayana expressed concerns that global corporations like those led by Elon Musk and the Adani Group might collaborate to strengthen the political positions of Donald Trump in the US and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India. He referred to outgoing US President Joe Biden’s farewell address, where Biden cautioned Americans about an emerging “oligarchy” and the potential dangers of power being concentrated among a wealthy few.

Narayana also pointed to the recent announcement from Hindenburg Research, which exposed alleged wrongdoings by the Adani Group before deciding to shut down its operations. He claimed this development suggested multinational corporations were aligning their interests. “There is no doubt that these companies would gain full political backing—Trump in the USA and Modi in India,” he stated.

The CPI leader further alleged that if Trump regains office, corruption charges against the Adani Group in the US would likely be dismissed. He also criticized former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy for signing Power Purchase Agreements with the Adani Group at inflated prices. According to Narayana, Jagan’s actions have placed a financial burden of Rs 2 lakh crore on the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Narayana concluded by urging leaders of other Left parties to stand united. He stressed the importance of their unity, as he believed that “looters” were joining forces to exploit the common people.
