Contestants listen to grievances of Jubilee Hills voters in Hyderabad

Voters in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in Hyderabad have been expressing their grievances to the candidates of political parties who are seeking their votes for the upcoming elections on November 30. The residents have been discussing long-standing issues, including the lack of basic development in the area.

The constituency includes both posh areas and slums. To secure the seat, prominent campaigners such as K T Rama Rao, the Owaisi brothers, and Congress president Revanth Reddy have been supporting their respective contenders.

On Thursday, junior Owaisi, along with contender Mohammed Rashed Faraz, held a corner meeting in the Erragadda division. During the meeting, the residents raised concerns about the underdevelopment in the constituency. They listed various pending works and pointed out that despite being in Jubilee Hills, several areas still lack development.

One resident of Erragadda expressed disappointment, stating that there are still no proper roads, water scarcity, sewage overflow, water inundation during rains, and a lack of infrastructure development. However, they noted that areas outside the slums in the constituency are well-developed.

During their canvassing program, Akbar Owaisi assured the residents by showcasing developmental works in the Shaikpet division. He urged them to vote for AIMIM.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Mohammed Azharuddin criticized the lack of development in the constituency and accused the local BRS MLA of engaging in criminal activities instead of focusing on development. Azharuddin promised to work towards progress and urged voters to join him for a brighter future.

Recently, KTR held a road show in the constituency and encouraged voters to support sitting candidate Maganti Gopinath instead of Azharuddin. KTR argued that Azharuddin has been absent from public life and lacks knowledge about the Jubilee Hills constituency.

Residents in various areas, including Fatima Nagar, Natraj Nagar, Sultan Nagar, Rahmat Nagar, Kalyan Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Borabanda, Habibfatima Nagar, Sriram Nagar, and several other slums, continue to face the same issues. For example, residents in Borabanda expressed frustration about a drain repeatedly breaching its boundaries and causing flooding in the colony and surrounding lanes. They have been complaining about this issue for over a decade, but nothing has been done to address it.

Residents also highlighted poor sanitation and lack of civic amenities in various colonies. They mentioned that only areas near the posh regions receive development, while other localities remain neglected. Despite approaching all political parties and sharing their grievances, the residents feel that the promises made by the contenders are not backed up by action. Some residents expressed a desire to vote for a new party this time, as they believe that all parties are the same and fail to deliver on their promises.
