Contaminated Chocolate Confirmed by Telangana Food Lab

A man found white worms and webs in Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates he bought from a store in Hyderabad. He sent the chocolates for testing at the Telangana State Food laboratory, which deemed them unsafe to eat due to the presence of worms and webs.

Activist Robin Zaccheus discovered the worms and webs in the chocolates and raised concerns about the safety of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) provided to children. He called for strict punishment for companies that provide harmful food and suggested cancelling their licenses.

The lab’s report stated that the chocolates were unsafe under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Zaccheus shared his findings on social media, tagging Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in his post to bring attention to the issue.

In response to the controversy, Mondelez, the parent company of Cadbury, defended their production process on Twitter. They claimed to follow the HACCP program to ensure the safety of their products from any physical, chemical, or microbiological issues.
