Tummala Nageshwara Rao, a senior leader and former minister from Old Khammam district, officially joined the Congress party in Hyderabad. He was welcomed by TPCC President A Revanth Reddy. To showcase his political strength in his district, Nageshwara Rao is planning to organize a large public meeting in Khammam town soon. It is believed that he intends to contest from the Paleru assembly constituency, where he lost in the 2018 assembly election.

With Nageshwara Rao’s entry into the party, Congress is expected to gain more influence in Khammam. The recent joining of former MP and BRS leader P Srinivas Reddy in Congress has already created a political buzz in the district. Now, with another senior leader like Nageshwara Rao on board, Congress hopes to strengthen its presence throughout the entire district. Many senior BRS leaders have already joined Congress, and more are expected to follow suit soon.

Revanth Reddy, along with other party leaders, has been engaging in discussions with district and constituency-level leaders in Khammam. They are actively inviting them to join Congress before the upcoming elections. The goal is for the party to secure all 10 assembly seats in the Old Khammam district, which has a significant tribal voter population. These developments hint at potential changes in the political landscape of Khammam.
