The Congress party in Hyderabad is waiting for more information on the “one nation one election” issue before announcing their list of candidates for the Assembly polls. If the Centre decides to have partial “one nation one election” and combines the elections in the five states with the Lok Sabha elections, the party will need to reconsider their candidate list. Because of this, the screening committee has not yet chosen the names. They will wait for the Congress Working Committee meeting on September 16 before submitting their recommendations. The party also wants to minimize backlash from aspirants who don’t receive a ticket.
One of the aspirants expressed uncertainty about when the situation will be resolved. Former TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that no decision was made regarding the candidates at the Wednesday meeting. More consultations will occur before finalizing the list to send to the party high command.
During their three-day visit, the poll panel led by K Muralidharan met with Pradesh Executive Committee (PEC), former PCC presidents, and other important leaders, as well as District Congress Committees (DCC). They decided to hold further discussions based on the reports and suggestions from the PEC and DCCs. The committee will forward the compiled reports to the Central Election Committee (CEC). It may take around 15 more days to finalize the names, with an average of three names being forwarded to the CEC, according to AICC (Telangana in-charge) Manikrao Thakre.
