Congress to Hold Political Affairs Committee Meeting in Hyderabad
The Congress party is set to hold a Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting in Hyderabad on Wednesday as part of its efforts to reorganize the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC). Senior leader and AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal will attend the meeting. One of the key topics of discussion will be advancing the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan” campaign to challenge the BJP.
With local body elections approaching, the restructuring of the PCC has become a priority for the Congress. Party sources revealed that the State Congress leadership has already sent its proposals for the new committee to the party’s High Command for approval. Venugopal’s visit is significant as it marks his first trip to Hyderabad in several months. During the meeting, he will assess the party’s situation and discuss strategies for better coordination within the organization.
The new PCC structure is expected to have fewer office bearers than before. The number of working presidents will be reduced to four, while only 50 general secretaries and 10 vice presidents will be appointed. Previously, the PCC had five working presidents and 80 general secretaries. This reduction aims to streamline the organization and improve efficiency.
In the recent Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held in Belagavi, Karnataka, the party adopted the slogan “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan.” This campaign, which honors Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and the Indian Constitution, will continue at the block, district, and state levels until January 26, marking the 75th anniversary of the Constitution coming into effect.
The PAC meeting on Wednesday will take place at Gandhi Bhavan and will be chaired by AICC State in-charge Deepa Dasmunshi. Key leaders such as Telangana Congress President A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, PCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, and other PAC members are expected to attend.
