Congress high command anxious about BC leaders

Leaders from BC (Backward Classes) communities in Hyderabad are causing concern for the Congress high command. They are unhappy with the lack of consideration given to their demand for more tickets for their communities in the upcoming Assembly elections. After Ponnala Lakshmaiah, a senior leader and former TPCC president, quit the party, many other senior BC leaders are reportedly considering following suit. They are waiting for the announcement of candidates before making their decisions.

Prominent BC leaders such as V HanumanthaRao, Ponnam Prabhakar, Madhu Yashki Goud, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, and Mahesh Kumar Goud are all demanding tickets for themselves. Telangana PCC president ARevanth Reddy has already announced that two seats in each Lok Sabha segment will be reserved for BC leaders. However, the BC leaders claim that the party’s screening committees are not giving them a chance to express their views on seat allotment.

If the BCs are not given tickets, sources say that the BC leaders are already planning an action plan against the party leadership. They feel that BCs have been neglected in terms of political opportunities and that the party is mainly focused on giving tickets to wealthy leaders from forward communities.

The Kapus, Gouds, Mudiraj, and Yadav communities are dominant within the backward classes. Leaders from these communities are already involved with the Congress at various levels. If their demands are not met, they may jeopardize the party’s chances of winning in the elections.
