Hyderabad: The Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre has put the country into a huge debt trap, said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He claimed that this debt is twice the amount borrowed by 16 former prime ministers over six decades. According to him, the country’s current loan burden stands at Rs 183 lakh crore.
Revanth Reddy made these statements while addressing Congress party workers who were staging a protest in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Hyderabad. The protest was to demand a probe against businessman Gautam Adani and SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, as well as her husband Dhaval Buch.
The Congress party is calling for the resignation of the SEBI chairperson and a joint parliamentary committee investigation into the Adani issue. Revanth Reddy accused Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of protecting Adani and Ambani, despite opposition leader Rahul Gandhi exposing their alleged irregularities.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the achievements of previous prime ministers, such as Jawaharlal Nehru’s focus on irrigation projects, Indira Gandhi’s land reforms, and Rajiv Gandhi’s contributions to the Information Technology sector. In contrast, he criticized the Modi government, claiming that it has done nothing but push the country further into debt.
He also expressed concern that the BJP has become a significant threat to the country and urged Congress workers to take responsibility for eliminating this danger. Additionally, Revanth Reddy criticized the BRS party and its chief, KCR, for their silence on the Adani and SEBI issue. He suggested that the BJP and BRS might be planning a merger, given their lack of response to the matter.
