Illegal Gravel and Soil Transport Uncovered in Mahabubnagar
In Sankalmaddi village, Moosapet Mandal, a troubling incident of illegal gravel and soil transportation has been reported. Contractors working on the national highway expansion project at Vemula Stage were seen moving soil for a flower plantation project without obtaining the required permissions from government authorities. The issue was brought to light on Saturday by social activist Diddi Praveen Kumar, President of the Nenu Saitam Voluntary Organization.
Praveen Kumar revealed that the contractors took advantage of the holiday to carry out the unauthorized transportation. They used Bharat Benz trucks and tipper lorries to move gravel and soil without approval from the revenue, mining, and other relevant departments. He estimated that 70 to 80 trucks were involved in this illegal activity, transporting materials from Pandigutta in Sankalmaddi.
Concerned citizens alerted Praveen Kumar to the situation, prompting him to investigate further. Acting quickly, he filed a formal complaint with Moosapet Tahsildar Raju and Mining Officer Sanjay. In his complaint, he demanded that strict action be taken against the contractors and requested the seizure of the vehicles used in the operation.
Praveen Kumar also criticized local authorities, including revenue, police, and mining officials, for failing to address the illegal activity despite being aware of it. He stated that he would continue his efforts to fight unlawful practices in the region until appropriate actions were taken to stop illegal gravel and soil transportation.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the enforcement of laws and the role of authorities in preventing illegal activities in the area.
