Competition Intensifies for Wardhannapet Ticket

Former IPS officer K R Nagaraju met with TPCC president A Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on Friday. As the assembly elections draw closer, many candidates, including high-profile ones, are looking for viable constituencies to contest from. The Congress party is in a good position after their strong performance in Karnataka. The ruling BRS party is expected to retain most of their sitting MLAs. In this context, there is a rush for Congress party tickets.

The latest candidate to join the race is retired IPS officer K R Nagaraju. He is interested in contesting from the Wardhannapet constituency, which is reserved for Scheduled Castes. Nagaraju currently lives in Laxmipuram village near Warangal city. He completed his schooling and higher education in Mamnoor and Warangal. Nagaraju started his police career as a sub-inspector in Wardhannapet in 1990 and worked in various positions in Warangal and Hyderabad before retiring as the Police Commissioner of Nizamabad in March 2023.

Some Congress party members believe that Nagaraju will have an advantage over other candidates for the Wardhannapet ticket because he is a local and has worked extensively in the region. Former MP Sircilla Rajaiah and constituency Congress in-charge Namindla Srinivas are also frontrunners for the ticket.
