Collector Urges Officials to Complete Employment Guarantee Works Transparently

District Collector B. M. Santosh has instructed officials to complete projects under the Employment Guarantee Scheme with full transparency and within the set targets.

On Tuesday, the Collector visited the MPDO office in Itikyala Mandal to review the progress of works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). He stressed the effective use of scheme funds to develop Gram Panchayats and rural areas. During the review, he examined the estimation process, work execution, and payment details, instructing officials to maintain accurate records.

The Collector also checked the progress of the avenue plantation under the Haritha Haram initiative. He reviewed the number of trees planted and the costs incurred for their maintenance. He suggested using the NREGS scheme for necessary plantation activities and emphasized that 60% of employment guarantee funds should be allocated to agricultural-related works.

During his inspection, he examined the measurement book and master roll, directing officials to maintain registers clearly and as per regulations. He also instructed them to register all works online and update progress details regularly.

Earlier, at the MPDO office, the Collector inspected the construction of a soak pit for groundwater conservation, built at a cost of ₹30,000. He discussed the quality of work with the officials.

Additional Collector Narsinga Rao, MPDO Azhar Mohiuddin, APO Shiva Jyothi, and Technical Assistants Krishnayya, Lavanya, and Hussain were among those who participated in the program.
