Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy compared the state government’s budget to Ugadi Pachadi, a traditional dish made with different flavours to represent various emotions of life. He said the budget, like the dish, takes care of everyone’s needs in society. He was speaking at the Ugadi celebrations organized by the Culture and Endowments Department.
Revanth Reddy mentioned that the budget, presented by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, mainly focuses on improving education, healthcare, and basic infrastructure. He also said that the government is working on cleaning up the Musi River and developing a new “Future City” in Telangana.
The Chief Minister admitted there are some difficulties in carrying out these plans but expressed confidence that the government will overcome them. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace and law and order to attract investments. He promised strict action against anyone trying to disturb harmony in the state.
He also spoke about the government’s dream of “Telangana Rising” and making the state a role model for the rest of India. He pointed out that most Indian cities have grown in an unplanned way, unlike Chandigarh. Telangana’s new city, he said, would be carefully planned and would help create jobs and bring in investments, especially to support weaker sections like Dalits, Tribals, BCs, and Minorities.
Revanth Reddy announced the start of the fine rice distribution scheme in Nalgonda. He remembered how white rice used to be a rare luxury during festivals in the past. He praised former Congress leaders like K Vijay Bhaskar Reddy and N T Rama Rao for making rice more available and gave credit to Sonia Gandhi for introducing the Food Security Act, which helped ensure regular meals for the poor.
Talking about agriculture, the Chief Minister shared that Telangana farmers produced 1.56 lakh metric tonnes of paddy last year — the highest ever, even more than undivided Andhra Pradesh. He said the current season is also seeing record paddy production.
Despite criticism from the opposition, Revanth Reddy said the state government will continue to maintain good relations with the central government.
