Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the Sitarama project in the old Khammam district on Independence Day, August 15. The project is located at Dummugudem in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
The Sitarama project is planned to be completed in two phases. Phase-I of the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme will cover the Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad districts. Phase-II will also cover these same districts. In Phase-I, the scheme will create a command area of 2,72,921 hectares. This includes a new ayacut of about 1,33,085 hectares and the stabilization of about 1,39,836 hectares.
State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy held a special review with irrigation officials to discuss the arrangements for the inauguration. The Minister mentioned that the Chief Minister would arrive at the project site by helicopter after participating in the Independence Day celebrations in Hyderabad.
At the project site, the Chief Minister will switch on the second pump house and attend a public meeting in Wyra.
