Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Takes Action Against Illegal Sand Transport

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has taken a strong stand against illegal sand transport in the state. In a high-level meeting with officials from the Mines and Geology Department, he ordered strict inspections at sand reaches. He warned that anyone involved in illegal sand transport, no matter their position, would face severe action.

To improve enforcement, HYDRA (Hyderabad Detection and Response Agency) has been assigned to monitor illegal sand transport around Hyderabad. The CM also stressed the need for transparency and accountability in sand mining operations.

Key Directives from the CM

Free Sand for Indiramma Housing Scheme
The government will provide free sand to beneficiaries of the Indiramma housing scheme. Additionally, steps will be taken to keep sand prices affordable for the general public.

Strict Action Against Corrupt Officials
Officials who assist in illegal sand transport will be immediately suspended and face legal action. CM Revanth Reddy also warned that he might personally conduct surprise inspections if needed.

Enhanced Monitoring and Enforcement
Special vigilance and enforcement teams will be deployed to track illegal sand mining. District Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) will be held responsible for preventing unlawful transport in their respective areas.

Advanced Security Measures at Sand Reaches
To improve security, 360-degree CCTV cameras and solar lighting will be installed at all sand reaches. Sand stockyards will be fenced and have designated entry and exit points with strict security protocols.

Regulated Sand Transport and Distribution
Only registered lorries will be allowed to transport sand, ensuring better tracking and control. Consumers who book sand online must receive their delivery within 48 hours from the nearest sand reach.

Consumer Protection & Online Booking Reforms
A dedicated grievance portal will be launched to address customer complaints quickly. The online sand booking system will also be revised, with booking hours adjusted to match office timings.

Crackdown on Black Market Sales
Authorities will take strict measures to prevent sand hoarding and illegal sales. Sand will only be sold at government-fixed prices, and transport vehicles will be equipped with GPS tracking systems to prevent misuse.

The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Mines Development Corporation Chairman Eravathri Anil, HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath, and other senior officials.
