Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Criticizes Central Government Over Tax Allocation
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has raised concerns about the Central Government’s unequal distribution of tax revenue. He said southern states are not receiving their fair share of funds. Reddy made these remarks during The Southern Rising Summit 2024, which was held in Hyderabad and organized by ABP Network. According to him, the development of the entire country can only happen if all states grow equally.
During his speech, CM Reddy highlighted the important contributions made by the southern states to India’s overall progress. He also shared his vision for the future of Telangana and Hyderabad. He talked about major projects like the Musi Riverfront Development and the Future City initiative, which aim to enhance Hyderabad’s global standing.
The Chief Minister expressed frustration with those who oppose the rejuvenation of the Musi River. He pointed out that similar projects, like the Sabarmati Riverfront, are being supported elsewhere. Reddy also announced plans to build a world-class Gandhi Memorial at Bapu Ghat, where the Musi and Esi rivers meet.
In his address, Reddy praised the reforms that have shaped India’s growth, starting from the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. He mentioned key reforms like the green revolution, bank nationalization, and the constitutional amendments that decentralized power to local bodies. He also highlighted the importance of expanding voting rights to 18-year-olds.
Reflecting on the sacrifices made by youth during Telangana’s formation, Reddy urged citizens to continue supporting the state’s progress. He called for collective efforts to make Telangana and Hyderabad models of growth and development, under the banners of “Rising Telangana” and “Rising Hyderabad.”
