Hyderabad's New Flyover Named in Honor of Dr. Manmohan Singh

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister announced plans to lay the foundation stone for Osmania General Hospital soon at Goshamahal Stadium. He referred to the Old City as the “original city” of Hyderabad and assured that the government is committed to developing the region further. Among the plans is the construction of a cable bridge over Mir Alam Tank, which is expected to become a major tourist attraction. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s readiness to fund such projects and urged public representatives to ensure timely completion.

Revanth Reddy also highlighted ongoing initiatives like the Metro expansion and Musi River rejuvenation project, which aim to enhance Hyderabad’s infrastructure. He revealed that he has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi for financial support to aid the city’s development. Stressing the importance of collaboration, he mentioned plans to work with AIMIM leaders to develop the Old City. He also discussed the Regional Ring Road, which he believes will bring significant investment to the state.

The newly built flyover spans 4.04 kilometers and comes at a cost of ₹799.74 crore. It features six lanes supported by 119 pillars and is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, especially for commuters traveling between Aramghar and Old City areas. The flyover will benefit neighborhoods like Shastripur, Kalapattar, Darul Uloom, Shivarampally, and Hasannagar. Officials noted that, under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), 37 out of the 42 proposed projects have been completed, with five more flyovers and road bridges currently under construction.

AIMIM floor leader and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi brought attention to the original plan for the flyover, which was meant to connect Puranapul to Aramghar. The project was later divided into two sections—Puranapul to Bahadurpura and Zoo Park to Aramghar. He urged the Chief Minister to prioritize completing these two segments to ease commuting challenges.

Akbaruddin Owaisi also advocated for completing the Charminar Pedestrian Project, which attracts thousands of visitors daily. He emphasized the need for improved parking facilities near historic landmarks, suggesting parking complexes at the Charminar bus stop and near Khilwat Palace. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of accelerating development projects for areas like Mir Alam Mandi, Murgi Chowk, and Mir Alam Tank.

Lastly, Owaisi called for a more inclusive State tourism policy that promotes not just temples but also other religious and historic sites, including dargahs, churches, gurudwaras, Parsi places of worship, and tombs. He urged the government to broaden its approach to ensure all communities and heritage sites are represented in Hyderabad’s tourism initiatives.
