Red-Breasted Flycatcher Spotted at Ameenpur Lake After Years
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared exciting news on Monday about the sighting of a rare bird, the Red-Breasted Flycatcher, at Ameenpur Lake. The bird, which had not been seen at the lake for several years, has made a return this winter.
The Red-Breasted Flycatcher is a small bird, measuring just 12 centimetres. Every year, it undertakes an incredible migration from Eastern Europe to South Asia, seeking warmer winters and abundant food. Its appearance at Ameenpur Lake has delighted bird enthusiasts and environmentalists.
The Chief Minister expressed his thoughts on the sighting through a tweet. He shared his belief that protecting nature leads to nature taking care of us in return. He also highlighted efforts to stop encroachments and restore lakes, which have been ongoing for months to preserve the state’s ecological wealth.
On Monday, Revanth Reddy posted another tweet on X, saying, “A 12-cm Red-Breasted Flycatcher seen in Ameenpur Lake restored by #HYDRAA shows we are on the right track. It is like an endorsement from God.” The sighting of the bird has been seen as a positive sign of the success of these conservation efforts.
Ameenpur Lake’s restoration efforts have brought not just the Red-Breasted Flycatcher but also renewed hope for the city’s biodiversity and natural heritage.
