The State government of Hyderabad has expressed concern over an attack on a student from the city in Chicago and has asked the External Affairs Minister to investigate the incident. The student, Syed Mazahir Ali, was seriously injured by four robbers. He had gone to the US to study at Indiana Wesleyan University. His wife, Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi, has requested assistance from the External Affairs ministry to get him treated.
In response to the attack, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has promised to establish a dedicated help desk for all young people living in the US, especially students, to ensure their needs are met. The Chief Minister expressed his concern over the safety of students and citizens living abroad and requested the External Affairs Minister to convey these concerns.
The Consulate-General of India’s office in Chicago has been in contact with Ali and his wife, providing them with necessary assistance. The consulate has also contacted local authorities who are investigating the case.
