Telangana innovator Modha Sivakumar won first prize in a competition organized by CIIE.CO and GIAN, held at IIM-A. His invention, the ‘Handloom Lifting Weaving Machine’, replaces the traditional punch card system with a pen drive-based method. This device improves efficiency and reduces physical strain on weavers. By lifting the handloom itself, it eliminates the need for weavers to lift heavy warp threads multiple times a day. Telangana’s Chief Innovation Officer, Dr Shanta Thoutam, commended Sivakumar’s innovation and highlighted the importance of innovation in traditional industries. Sivakumar expressed gratitude to TSIC for their support.
