Christmas preparations underway in Hyderabad

Hyderabad is getting ready to celebrate Christmas with enthusiasm. Churches and Christian organizations are planning big celebrations, filling the streets with the sound of beautiful carols. The churches are preparing for Christmas Eve and midnight mass. Some churches are even recreating the entire story of Jesus, from his birth prophecy to his crucifixion. Others are joining forces with the transgender community and orphanages to spread love and kindness. The markets and shops are also decorated for Christmas, offering delicious treats.

The United Christmas Celebration Committee is excited about this year’s festivities. Although there may be some limitations due to the current situation, various churches have organized colorful programs. For the first time, orphanage girls sang carols at Wesley Church in Secunderabad, and some members have promised to support them.

At the Montfort Social Institute in Ramanthapur, a special Christmas celebration took place with the theme “Children in Conflict Zones – Expressions through Poetry, Singing, Painting, and Dance.” Varghese Theckanath, the institute’s director, highlighted the difficult conditions faced by children in conflict zones.

St Joseph’s Cathedral in Gunfoundry, Abids, has a series of events lined up for Christmas. They have already organized a musical night and fellowship dinner. The church has also set up a large Christmas tree and a life-size nativity scene as part of their decorations.

Overall, Hyderabad is fully embracing the spirit of Christmas, with churches and organizations coming together to spread joy and goodwill.
