Chilli farmers in Warangal disappointed with inadequate prices

Farmers in Warangal staged a protest at the Enumamula Agricultural Market Yard due to a sharp fall in red chilli prices. They accused traders and officials of lowering the procurement prices and demanded the government to ensure fair prices for their produce.

The fixed price for the Teja variety was Rs 21,000 per quintal, but traders were unwilling to purchase at that price. Instead, they offered between Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 per quintal. This disappointment led the farmers to demand that the new government address their issues.

The protest caused traffic congestion on the market road as farmers raised slogans against the market committee. Despite attempts by the police to calm them down, the farmers continued their protest. They demanded that the market committee pay the support price. Eventually, the protest ended after the market committee assured them of providing support price.

The secretary of Enumamula Agriculture Market, K Sangaiah, stated that he had convinced traders to offer fair prices to the farmers.
