Chief Secretary: Master plan for Musi Riverfront development to be completed by the end of August

The government is working on developing the Musi Riverfront and plans to have a draft master plan ready by the end of August. Officials discussed this at the 24th board meeting of Musi Riverfront Development Corporation, chaired by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari.

MD Amrapali Kata provided an overview of the project, mentioning that timelines for feasibility reports and project designs have been set. The concept master plan is finalized, and the draft master plan is expected by August-end.

Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Dana Kishore mentioned interest from private players in the project. The board discussed developing a 55 km stretch of the Musi River under the first phase of MRDP.

They also talked about protecting and restoring heritage structures around the river in the city. The government is prioritizing the development of the Musi Riverfront through a public-private partnership.

Efforts are being made to rejuvenate the area, with structures near the river being identified. GHMC has been instructed to reject permissions for developments within 50 meters of the river boundaries.
