Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced plans to develop historic buildings along the Musi River into popular tourist attractions. Some of these notable structures include Osmania Hospital, the High Court, Jubilee Hall, and the Puranapool Bridge, all of which are located near the riverbanks in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister encouraged industrialists to help preserve these buildings that reflect Hyderabad’s cultural heritage. He also mentioned that the renovation of the old Assembly building has already begun, with plans to relocate the state’s Legislative Council to this newly renovated site. Jubilee Hall, which currently houses the Legislative Council, is a historically significant structure built with special technology, making its preservation a priority.
CM Revanth Reddy suggested that the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) take responsibility for the preservation of Jubilee Hall. He also discussed plans to preserve the old Osmania Hospital while constructing a new one at Goshamahal Stadium. Additionally, he stressed the need to protect the existing High Court building and shared that the government has allocated 100 acres of land at Rajendra Nagar for the construction of a new High Court. Other important structures, such as the Puranapool Bridge and Hyderabad City College, will also be preserved, and the Charminar conservation project is already underway.
On this occasion, the State Tourism Department signed an agreement with the CII for the restoration of several ancient stepwells in Hyderabad. Various industrialists have committed to restoring and promoting these stepwells as tourist spots. Infosys will handle the renovation of the Mahalaka stepwell at Osmania University, Sai Life will adopt the Manchirevula stepwell, and Bharat Biotech will restore the Salar Jung and Ammapalli stepwells. Other companies, such as Dodla Dairy and TGRTC, will take up the renovation of the Adikmet and Falaknuma stepwells, respectively, while Koti Women’s College will restore the Residency stepwell.
Revanth Reddy also shared that through the government’s Telangana Darshini program, students from government schools are being given the chance to visit tourist and historical sites in the state free of charge.
