Chief Minister introduces four new schemes

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday criticized former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for his repeated absence from Assembly sessions. He questioned why KCR continues to hold the position of Leader of Opposition when he is allegedly neglecting the responsibilities that come with the role.

Speaking at a public gathering in his Kodangal constituency, Revanth Reddy launched four new welfare schemes promised by the Congress during its election campaign. The initiatives include Rythu Bharosa (a Rs 12,000 financial support scheme for farmers), Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa (Rs 12,000 assistance for landless families), the distribution of new PDS ration cards, and the Indiramma Housing Scheme. He announced that the financial benefits from Rythu Bharosa and Atmiya Bharosa would be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts starting Sunday midnight.

The CM took a dig at KCR, accusing him of shirking responsibility. “When KCR is in power, he takes advantage of it. But when he’s not, he refuses to perform his duties as Leader of the Opposition. Why should he hold that position if he neglects his role?” Revanth questioned.

Responding to criticism from BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) about his brother Tirupati Reddy, Revanth defended his brother’s role. He explained that while his brother does not hold an official post, he serves as his representative in Kodangal, assisting the people in their needs. Revanth added that due to his responsibilities as CM, which include traveling across the state and managing administrative duties, his brother helps address the constituency’s concerns.

The CM also claimed that he and his family had invested personal funds into various development projects, such as improving schools in Kodangal. He alleged that KCR, despite his scholarly reputation of having read 80,000 books, and KTR, with his background as a techie, were unable to accept the progress being made. Revanth sarcastically suggested that Congress party workers send “medicine” to KCR and KTR to help them “digest” the good work being done.

Revanth further criticized KTR and his family for prioritizing their own political positions over public welfare. He pointed out that KTR’s cousin was a Rajya Sabha member, his sister became an MLC after losing in the Lok Sabha elections, and several family members held ministerial positions, including his father, KCR, as Chief Minister. Yet, he claimed, they never considered issuing new ration cards for beneficiaries.

Finally, referring to an incident in November last year where government officials were attacked during a public hearing in Kodangal on land acquisition, Revanth accused the BRS of sabotaging his efforts to create jobs and promote industrialization. He alleged that the BRS was deliberately creating obstacles to hinder the development of his constituency and the state.
