Starting from June 1, private training institutes will now conduct driving tests and issue licenses, reducing the need to visit the RTO office frequently. The Central Government has introduced new regulations for the driving license system, which will take effect next month.
These training institutes must meet certain qualifications to be able to issue driving certificates. They need to have at least one acre of land, with an additional three acres for four-wheeler training. The center must be easily accessible and free from traffic disruptions. Trainers should have a high school education, five years of driving experience, and a basic understanding of biometrics and technology.
The training period for light vehicles is 4 weeks, with a minimum of 29 hours of theory and practical training. Heavy motor vehicle training requires at least 39 hours over six weeks, including 8 hours of theory and 31 hours of practical classes.
The fees for different types of licenses are as follows: Learner License – Rs. 200, Learner License Renewal – Rs. 200, Permanent License – Rs. 200, International License – Rs. 1000.
